20 Years of Playstation

A long time ago on the 3rd of December 1994 Japan gamers were the first to see the new 5th generation console The PlayStation by Sony's Ken Kutaragi.

North American were next to see this amazing new CD-ROM gaming console on the 9th September 1995 with Europe following on the 29th of September that same year.

Australians were finally able to get the PlayStation on the 15th of November 1995, which went on to sell more then 120 million units and have Gran Turismo as its best selling game with over 10 million units shipped.

Then on the 4th of March 2000 came the PlayStation 2 to Japan, the 26th of October to North American, the 24th November to Europe and finally Australian's got their PS2's on the 30th of November 2000.

The PlayStation 2 sold more then 150 million units with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas being the most sold game with over 17 million copies shipped.

Between December 2004 and March 2005 the PlayStation Portable was released, with a slimline version released in September 2007.

When the PlayStation 3 was release to Japan on the 11th of November 2006, North America on the 17th of November 2006 with Europe and Australia getting theirs PS3's on the 23rd of March 2007, it was supposed to be the next biggest thing in console history, but only managed to sell just over 80 million units during its life time.

Grand Theft Auto V ended up being its most sold game with over 15 million units shipped.

In October 2009 the PlayStation Portable Go was released, then between the 17th of December 2011 and the 22nd of February 2012 the PlayStation Vita was released.

The PlayStation 4 came to gamers in North America on the 15th of November 2013 with Europe and Australia on the 29th of November 2013 and Japan on the 22nd of February 2014.

So far the PS4 has been the fastest selling console ever and has many best selling games. I can only wonder which game will be its best selling game.
